Standards

Hoist Ropes
With the advent of high-rise elevators and the increasing speed of elevator car, elevator designers and manufacturers often opt for hoist ropes with higher strength. The grade of steel (traction, ultra-high strength traction) depends on many factors, of which the most critical being load requirements and speed. It is not always advantageous to use an EHS tow line where traction is sufficient. Low carbon steel wire used on traction grade wire rope may provide better fatigue life than high carbon EHS wire.
Roller and Counterweight Rope
For most rollers and counterweights, use 8x19 Seale haulage rope. If the roller and pulley material of the existing elevator is softer than the rope material, a steel wire rope may be considered.
The compensation ropes
8x25 filled wire haulage wire rope provides longer and more economical service. For existing installations that require iron, WW recommends using 8x25 fill lines.
Governor rope
8 - Strand traction steel governor rope can extend service life unless iron is specified. Make sure the replacement governor rope meets the elevator
